Ideological Circle
AX.C.07.05.04
A body bound by shared belief rather than contract or chain of command: a faith, a cause, a creed. It asks for conviction, not just service, and it can offer sanctuary and certainty that a paycheck can't. Its value to a member is belonging, and its price is that it expects belief, not just compliance.
- Domain: Ideological
- Faction Access (circumstantial, Affiliated Standing or higher): +1D to Resolve when acting in accordance with the Circle's tenets
Standing Drivers
- Gains: Acting visibly in accordance with the Circle's tenets; bringing in a new adherent in good faith; defending the Circle's people or places from harm.
- Losses: Acting against the Circle's tenets, especially publicly; harming an adherent; treating membership as a transaction rather than a conviction.
Boons
Sanctuary | Recovery | Stage 1 | Free Action | Self | Session
Once per session, claim sanctuary at a Circle-affiliated site. While there, you cannot be legally or forcibly removed by anyone who recognizes the Circle's standing, and gain the benefits of a Short Rest even in circumstances that would normally deny one.
Limit: Once per session. Does not protect against parties who don't recognize the Circle's authority to grant sanctuary.
Fellowship | Team | Stage 2 | Free Action | One ally, Near range | Long Rest
Once per Long Rest, invoke shared conviction to steady an ally: one ally within Near range immediately clears one Minor or Moderate Wit Condition (Frightened or a similar fear-based Condition), no roll required.
Limit: Once per Long Rest.
The Circle's Word | Organizational | Stage 3 | Primary Action | Organization-scale | Full Rest
Invoke the Circle's standing to change how a situation is treated by its adherents at large: a declared truce is honored, a stated need is met by volunteers, a condemned position becomes one adherents will actively resist.
Limit: Once per Full Rest. Costs 10 Standing Points, per AX.C.07.02. The Circle remembers what conviction was spent, and on what.
Adventure Hooks
- The Circle's Word conflicts with a local authority's law, and adherents who honor it are now in danger for having done so.
- A PC's Sworn Standing makes them a target for a schism within the Circle, both sides wanting their conviction on record.
- Fellowship steadies an ally against a fear that turns out to have been correct.
