Powers (AX.C.12)
The Odd Talent traditions themselves. This section provides worked examples of Power Traditions and defines how power effects (attack, defense, boon, bane) resolve in combat. Assumes the Extra-Normal Perk (AX.C.09.03) is settled first, granting a character access to a Tradition in the first place.
Example Power Traditions
AX.C.12.01
Worked examples of how a Genre Catalog author builds a Tradition entry, using the three tradition labels with the longest AxiomRPG history.
- Example Power Traditions — folio templates and authoring checklist
- Arcane — AX.C.12.01.01 — Force Tradition, Philosophies
- Faith — AX.C.12.01.02 — Resonance Tradition, Spheres
- Syonics — AX.C.12.01.03 — Force + Resonance split Tradition, Disciplines
Power Effects in Combat
AX.C.12.02
- Power Effects in Combat — Attack, Defense, Boon, and Bane effect resolution, plus the optional Critical Results and Two-State (Mystic Fatigue) mechanics
Flagged for follow-up
- 08.05.05 / 08.05.06 numbering collision:
08.05.05.md(Critical Results) carries its own header citation of "AX.C.08.05.06" instead of "AX.C.08.05.05" — a mismatch with its filename.08.05.06.md(Two-State Resource Mechanic) correctly cites "AX.C.08.05.06" for itself. Both source citations are preserved as-written in Power Effects in Combat; the duplicate/incorrect old-scheme code has not been corrected here. - Extra-Normal Access dependency: Nothing in this batch names an "Extra-Normal Access" mechanic explicitly, but the "Access Grant" field in every Tradition folio (Arcane, Faith, Syonics) and the "granted Syonic access" language in Syonics assume some Lineage/Profession-granted gateway mechanic — almost certainly the Extra-Normal Perk (AX.C.09.03) being ingested in parallel. Cross-check terminology once 09 Perks/Extra-Normal Perks.md lands.
- Force/Resonance/Form and Focus Terminology: Arcane uses Category "Force" / Focus Terminology "Philosophies"; Faith uses "Resonance" / "Spheres"; Syonics splits "Force" + "Resonance" / "Disciplines". These category labels (Force/Resonance/Form) should match whatever taxonomy the Extra-Normal Perk defines for what a granted Tradition "is." Not yet checkable — 09 Perks is still not-started as of this ingest.
- 2026-08-25 citation fix: This section's own subsections were previously mis-numbered "AX.C.12.01" / "AX.C.12.02" (colliding with
12 Combat.md's ownax_code: "AX.C.12"), despite this section's own top-level frontmatter correctly readingax_code: "AX.C.12". Renumbered to AX.C.12.01 / AX.C.12.02 (and the Arcane/Faith/Syonics sub-citations to AX.C.12.01.01–.03) to match the section's actual number and remove the collision with Combat.
